Three Things to Watch for Dynasty Managers Week 4: Is Kenyon Sadiq For Real?

Jake Trowbridge breaks down three trends to monitor in dynasty fantasy football leagues heading into Week 4, including Kenyon Sadiq's outlook after his breakout game.

While other dynasty managers overreact to the past, you and I are searching for clues that will help our teams’ futures.

Like detectives. Except we don’t have to wear pants.

Here are a few things to put under your magnifying glass as we head into Week 4…

Thing #1: Who is Kenyon Sadiq, Really?

Is Kenyon Sadiq the next powerhouse fantasy tight end? Or will he eventually be unmasked to reveal another Kyle Pitts?

You probably remember Pitts’ record-breaking first season, when he became only the second tight end in history to crack 1,000 yards as a rookie. That was enough for dynasty believers to erect statues in his honor. Many of which, despite the countless storms and megatons of pigeon crap that have befallen them, still stand today.

A quick reminder about that magical rookie year for Pitts: His main competition for targets were Russell Gage, Cordarrelle Patterson and a few games of Calvin Ridley, who wasn’t at his best. And, hey, that’s not Pitts’ fault. Ya do the best you can in the circumstances you're in.

But Pitts is a fantasy Goldilocks, performing like a stud tight end only when the situation is juuuuuuust right.

And that’s my worry with Sadiq.

I don’t know if he'll join Pitts in the 1,000-yard club. I just want to know if he can perform like a star tight end when the circumstances aren’t so ideal.

Last week’s 100-yard outing against the Lions was a welcome sign of life from a tight end who I loved as a prospect. But let’s not forget the team’s other first-round pick (Omar Cooper) is on IR, their WR2 (Adonai Mitchell) missed the game and the Lions pass defense is… bad.

I like what I’ve seen so far, but these next few weeks will go a long way toward solidifying or scrambling his dynasty value. Let’s see if Sadiq can build on his breakout performance with some consistency before we start valuing him as a top-tier dynasty option.

Thing #2: Which Wide Receivers Are Near QB-Proof? (Part 2)

I wrote about this a couple of weeks ago, but since then we’ve lost another gaggle of starting quarterbacks. Baker Mayfield, Jayden Daniels, Caleb Williams, Jaxson Dart… they’re all giving us opportunities to evaluate the mettle of their young receivers who’ve been forced to play with backups.

And, yes, we got some good data last week. But Malik Nabers played in a downpour, Antonio Williams dealt with an extremely difficult matchup and maybe Case Keenum used up every ounce of energy in his 38-year-old body to embarrass the Eagles. We could use a little more clarity on Luther Burden and the rest for our dynasty WR evaluations.

This week, I’ll be especially focused on Emeka Egbuka. Will he once again pace the Buccaneers in targets and targets per route run with Jalon Daniels under center? Can he build on a solid performance against the stingy Minnesota defense by carving up a much friendlier Packers unit?

Egbuka has a long way to go to recapture the hearts of dynasty managers (yours truly included), and stacking success while catching passes from a first-time starter would certainly help his case as a receiver worth building your dynasty team around.

Thing #3: Where Can You Find the Cheapest Veteran Assets?

Last week I wrote about how some of your leaguemates were no doubt already writing off 2026 and looking ahead to next year. Let’s dig a little deeper into that.

Do me a favor and take a look around your league. No, seriously. Right now. Open up whichever fantasy app your league uses and do a little scouting for me.

Does the 1-2 manager who lucked into their lone victory roster Travis Kelce or George Kittle? Is a pretty obvious rebuilder clinging onto Davante Adams for some reason? (Possibly because they’re too lazy to send out trade offers.)

Go do a little prodding. Because I’m willing to bet the fantasy output these old ballers still have in the tank outweighs their asking price in most leagues.

If your team is contending—or at least on the fence about whether to hit the reset button—you should already be on the phone with the flailing Derrick Henry manager. Chuba Hubbard should not be wilting away on a losing team’s vine!

Now is the exact time to figure out where the biggest gaps between production and dynasty value exist in your league. And you should be filling in those gaps with trade offers. Pronto.
